curatorial textBlue is an invitation to immerse in the intimate elements of Matheus Abu’s daily life - fragments that evoke the memory of transatlantic crossings during the early moments of Brazil’s colonization.

Through these objects, which he considers extensions of his own body, Abu shifts the narrative. He places them at the center of his work, allowing them to speak for themselves, reclaiming history while opening space for new futures.

By altering and repositioning these images, Abu weaves a tender, nostalgic story. The paintings in Blue explore the vast and complex relationship between the body and the sea, stirring sensations that transcend time and activate a deep, embodied connection with the world around us.
